Generative AI for staff

While detailed staff guidance is under development, we recommend the following:

• Try out Generative AI tools and explore how it can enhance the learning experience, but be vigilant that you do not enter any information that could be commercially sensitive (including, but not limited to, proprietary, personal or financial information, information relating to innovation and/or Research & Development etc.)
• Openly engage with students and be clear about ethical and transparent use of Generative AI tools, highlighting the capabilities and limitations
• Remind students of the value of assessments and feedback in achieving their learning goals and developing transferable skills such as communication, research and critical thinking
• Remind students that submission of assessments generated by Generative AI tools as their own work is in breach of the OU’s Academic Conduct Policy
• Alongside faculty staff responsible for learning and teaching, rethink curriculum including tutorials and assessment to ensure academic integrity
